Ms Emiliana MbelengaClinical Psychologist
Ms. Emiliana Mbelenga, M.S is a passionate practioner in the area of mental health and nutrition. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Foods, Nutrition and Dietetics from Egerton University and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nairobi. She worked for various organizations such as The Coca-Cola Company, UNICEF- Kenya, Save the Children, Feed the Children before moving on to private practice in 2017.
Emiliana specializes in working with adolescents and young and older adults with a range of socio-emotional problems. She offers individual consultations, group and family sessions. Known to her clients as “Emily”, her approach incorporates an empathic, practical and relational approach to psychotherapy with clients and their families. In addition to her clinical skills, her treatment approach is relationship based and integrates current research. With extensive training and experience in the field of psychology and nutrition, Emily is able to work with clients from a range of developmental and behavioral problems utilizing a wide range of holistic orientations and techniques that can provide every client with an individualized experience.
Since 2017, Emily has been the Clinical Psychologist and Lead Facilitator of Singing to the Lions a programme offered by the Kenya Society of Care Leavers (KESCA) whose aim is to help participants develop resilience to respond effectively to fear and violence in their lives. She is also a volunteer at the Nairobi Chapel Mental Health forum.
In addition to an active private practice; Emily also works as a nutrition consultant. She has undertaken assignments for Ministry of Health Kenya, Ministry of Health Liberia, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Kenya and Rome, Centre for Humanitarian Change (CHC), UNICEF Liberia, UNICEF Kenya and other International NGOs. She has also authored technical nutrition books and guidelines for the mentioned institutions.
